Rapid Deployment Data Centres
EPI’s Rapid Deployment Data Centre (RDDC) is a complete pre-fabricated data centre in a fully-featured, secure, container-sized, transportable unit.
RDDCs are deployed when a traditional data centre would take too long to construct, when running out of present data centre space, when there is a need to minimise initial investment, to ease the pain of building new data centres, to lower power consumption & costs, and as an innovative DR capability.

RDDC Construction
Frame. The RDDC employs a stable, torsion-resistant steel frame construction which ensures safe transportation. In to this frame modular 120mm thick panels are fitted. These panels are constructed of two layers of 0.6 mm lacquered, galvanized, high ferrite steel which provide rigidity and EMC protection.
Panels. The panels are filled with compacted and stratified isolation rock-wool meshed with fibers. These panels provides a perfect shield against heat, water infiltration, corrosion, industrial emissions and salty air. The inside is finished in smooth lacquer which saves any need for painting or special finishing treatment and also maintains a clean surface. The paint is specially formulated to resist dust and to ensure a low resistivity.
High Security Option. For installation in unsecured or at risk locations, a high security version of the RDDC is available which utilises Securiclad panels which have passed rigorous testing by the Loss Prevention Certification Board for use as a prime barrier, achieving LPS 1175 Security Rating 4. These panels have been approved for HM Government use and are able to withstand organised attacks by bodily force and tools. For more infomation see the Securiclad Panel pdf.

Interior. The interior of the RDDC is custom designed to suit requirements. Due to the flexible sizing options available, the RDDC is not restricted to the size of a standard shipping container which allows the use of a conventional raised floor for cold air delivery and cabling. To ensure the complete integrity of the room, special cable glands are employed to pass through all cabling and pipe work. These cable glands maintain the fire proof, watertight and EMC effectiveness of the entire RDDC.
Equipment Racks. The RDDC supports all popular rack sizes, from 600x1000mmx42U to 800x1200mmx47U, and rack mounted passive or intelligent PDUs can be pre-installed in the racks. An enclosed cold aisle may be employed to increase the efficiency of the cooling solution. A single unit RDDC can support 6 racks, whilst a clustered RDDC solution can support multiple of 6 racks, for example 12, 18 or 24 racks.
Power. The RDDC includes an integrated N+1 power distribution system supporting up to 12kW per rack with dual redundant power feeds. Backed up by N+1 UPS which is housed in a dedicated UPS area located at the end of the RDDC with its own access door, or as an in-rack N+1 UPS installation. The RDDC can support dual incoming supplies for grid redundant or grid with backup generator operation.
Cooling. Typical RDDC configurations include two downflow air handler units, each rated at up to 100kW giving support for 100kW N+1 cooling or 200kW non-redundant cooling capacity. In-row / in-rack / rear-door cooling options are available for very high density cooling solutions supporting 20+kW per rack load. UPS are typically housed in an adjoining area with its own air conditioning, and can support 100kW at N+1 (redundant) or 200kW non-redundant loads. The UPS area has its own access door which is located at the end of the RDDC.
Fire Detection/Suppression, Environmental Monitoring and Access Control. Fire detection and FM200 fire suppression can be installed to protect the RDDC. We also provide comprehensive environmental monitoring, including per rack temperature and humidity, with email, SNMP and SMS text alerting. Security options include IP cameras and several choice of access control systems.
Network. The RDDC is delivered pre-configured with a choice of copper and/or fibre network infrastructure, the connections to which can be presented on an external IP rated bulkhead.
Delivery. The RDDC is delivered as a complete, pre-built solution, requiring only a level surface, power and networking connections plus a location for the external plant (typically condensors or chillers, however these can also be housed within an “infrastructure RDDC”).
